10 Men Reveal The Exact Moment They Realized Their Wives Were The One

If you assume men aren’t emotional beings, think again.

A few days ago, a Redditor named pincurls posted a question on the /r/AskReddit thread stating the following question: “Married men of Reddit: what moment with your future wife made you think ‘Yup, I’m asking this girl to marry me’?” and the response was immense.

Men started sharing their love stories in the most eloquent and heartwarming ways. From jokesters who said they knew they were in love when their girl went to a soccer game 5 a.m. in the morning, to the deeply moving ones.

Here’s a few of our favorites for you to enjoy.

The time razorace1 found out his partner skipped curbs:

“We had been dating for about 3-4 months. We were holding hands after walking out of a store and reach the curb. Without skipping a beat, we both jump off the curb, the same as I have done since I was a little kid. My daughter and I now do it regularly. If you are still a kid at heart, find someone with a similar heart.”

The bookworm love story by dmasterdyne who’s now engaged and planning to be wed next year:

“When we first moved in together and we were unpacking our books. I stepped back when we were done and I noticed we had doubles of all of our favorite novels. I remember thinking to myself, yup, she’s the one.”

The Sherlock Holmes move dellpepper pulled on this girl:

“Out to the movies with a big group. Stupid movie, but there was only one other person who laughed at what I laughed at. I figured out who she was. We went out. We continued to laugh at all the wrong spots in life. We have been married almost 25 years. Still laughing when no one else does.”

The moment pwnride13 let her into his heart:

“My now wife sang and played “Hey Jude” for me on my sister in laws couch 3 days into our relationship. She has horrible stage fright but at that moment i knew she was the one. 6 years later we have a beautiful son named Jude and its her and I versus the world.”

That moment when bobroland realized he can have the world or he can have her:

“I had settled down for about a year in Denver. Spent the last six years on the road. Went from being homeless to a comfy IT job. Next door neighbor was a girl I really clicked with. I could climb from my balcony to hers. We would spend the nights talking. Anyways, I started to feel some wanderlust. The road beckoned again. I packed my car and was saying goodbye.
She told me I should stay. If I left, I would be throwing something good away. It broke my heart, but I wasn’t meant to live just one life in one city. There were tears in her eyes as I drove off. I don’t think I got more than six hours away before I had to pull over. The sun was setting, the red sky looking so god damn big. It was like universe was showing me her heart, asking me to embrace it…yet all I could feel at that moment was lonely.
I could have the world or I could have her. I turned the car around, and the next morning asked her to marry me.
Can’t say I regret it. If I ever did, I just look at my son. I’ve loved him since he was born thirteen years ago. The marriage ended, and it wasn’t much of a happy one. Still, I’m glad I turned around that day.”

The first kiss that took billyyancey’s breath away:

“The moment we kissed the first time. It wasn’t a kiss that should have been super magical. It was a kiss on her cheek. We were at work and we hadn’t actually started dating. We had been talking for a bit. I leaned in and quickly pecked her cheek. The way she felt on my lips took my breath away. Her smile and laugh at my awkward timing made my night. In that moment I knew the only thing that would make me complete is seeing that smile and hearing that laugh as many times as I can for the rest of my life.”

A seven years happily married slumdance proves Indiana Jones brings people together:

“I was in the bedroom getting ready to go somewhere and I heard my wife (girlfriend at the time) in the living room say “That’s what you get for fucking with Indiana Jones, douche bag!”. I asked her to marry me shortly after. I think she was watching Last Crusade.”

When this cleverkid found what his gene pool was looking for:

“Not married yet, just engaged. But once she drove us fearlessly through the most intense blizzard like an Ice road trucker with nerves of steel like it was nothing. I knew then and there that I wanted her genes coursing through my progeny’s veins.”

The happiest cookie monster MistaMistaT who now has a lifetime supply:

“Before I formally knew my wife she baked cookies for a mutual friend who played in a band with me. I took one bite and jokingly said, “I’m gonna marry mistamista’swife’sname”. We met officially six months later and married two years after that.”

The girl that went an extra mile and straight to Techn9neisagod’s heart:

“My Dad had just died, and i went to his funeral a state over around 5 hours away. so i’m sitting their alone in my hotel room and she calls me to see how i’m doing and i say i’m fine when i’m really torn up inside cause my dad was probably the person i was closest to. we talk for awhile and finally we hang up. i was unable to sleep and at around 4 am i get a knock on the hotel door and at first i was a little scared i mean who the hell knocks on a hotel door at 4 am? i looked through the window and i instantly start crying. my girlfriend had drove 5 hours in the middle of the night cause she knew i was having a hard time. i let her in and we just held eachother for the rest of the night and went to the funeral the next day.”

And this post by 8chofmann who beautifully summoned everything up:

“As a male who was recently broken up with, I figured this would be difficult to read. Instead, I am seeing what true love really is and that I’m better off. Thanks Reddit.”
