This is Greg Kloehn. Just recently, he was selling his sculptures to wealthy art collectors.
This is him now–digging through piles of illegally dumped trash in Oakland, CA.
He’s made a choice to turn from supporting the elite world of art to supporting our country’s forgotten. Forging livable dwellings for people in the United States who don’t have homes.
He calls it the “Tiny Houses Movement.” He’s spreading it across major cities like Brooklyn, Austin, and Oakland.
Each little house is big enough to sit and sleep in. They also have wheels so they can be moved.
Though the houses aren’t huge, they’re places to live that people truly cherish.
Kloehn builds mobile microhomes out of the things he finds, and donates them to those with no place to call home.
They’re the perfect size for one person to spend the night. And for those who do, it’s a nice change from spending the night on the street.
This is just one of his grateful tenants. By the look on her face, it’s clear Kloehn is making a difference in peoples’ lives.
