Some Really Smart People At MIT Just Created An Amazing New Device For The Blind That Will Change Everything

Braille has been an effective tool to help those who are blind read; however, it’s understandably difficult when they’re tasked with reading something that isn’t converted to that format. Fortunately for those with impaired vision, engineers have developed this wonderful machine that will hopefully change the way they experience the world around them.

Introducing The FingerReader:

MIT Media Lab’s FingerReader is an impressive machine.

It’s a 3D-printed device that uses the attached camera to recognize and read text for the user.

The device accomplishes this through complicated image processing.

It is designed to precisely follow a person’s fingertip to read the text aloud.

It can even be used on computer screens.

One of the coolest features is that The FingerReader emits a pulse that warns the readers when they move away from the line.

Although it’s only a prototype, we can only hope this hits the market ASAP.

Be on the lookout for these in the near future.
